Burun ameliyatı için yapılan işlemler arasında burundaki eğriliğin düzeltilmesi de yer alır. Bunun dışında burun deliklerindeki farklılıklardan ötürü yapılan düzeltmeler ya da burun ucundaki bir takım bozukluklar için de ameliyat yapılır. Ancak bunun neticesinde sonradan bir takım nefes alma problemleri oluşabilir. Bunun için de ikinci bir ameliyata ihtiyaç duyulur.
Kimi zaman, burnun kişinin yüzüne göre daha küçük ya da gereğinden büyük olduğu görülür. Bunun için burun ameliyatları yapılır. Burun ameliyatları çok ciddiye alınması gereken, önemli ve hassas ameliyatlardır. Özellikle de Sekonder Rinoplasti işlemi, daha da dikkat edilmesi gereken bir ameliyattır.

Bunun nedeni ise burun ameliyatında kemik dokusu veya kıkırdak bölümleri, ameliyatta aranan kısımlardır. Fakat ilk ameliyatta bunlar tüketildiği için, vücudun kıkırdak dokusunun fazla olduğu yerlerinden bu dokular alınır. Bu alınan kıkırdak dokusu, ikinci burun ameliyatında kullanılır.
Üstelik bu şekilde farklı yerlerden alınan kıkırdak dokuları, buruna göre şekillendirileceğinden dolayı ameliyat esnasında istenilen durumun yakalanması büyük bir özen istemektedir. Bu nedenle böylesi ikinci burun ameliyatları oldukça önemli ve dikkat isteyen ameliyat türleri arasındadır.
